Match Report

Thanks to those athletes who turned out to compete on Saturday..... special mention must be made to Scott Roberts who flew over from Jersey and competed in numerous events (that's team spirit for you!).

Newcomers to SAL were Jack Marston, Oliver Campbell, Katy Shirtcliffe and Matthew Collingridge by virtue of moving up an age group to U17, and Skye Roberts-Tharratt and Scott Roberts who have recently joined SMRAC. I hope you all enjoyed your day out in the Senior League.

We ended up 3rd after all the adjustments and officiating points have been added up.

Team Score

1 Cambridge Harriers 198 C

2 Holland Sports/DMV/Reigate Priory 182 O

3 St Mary's Richmond 154 R

4 Lewes and Haywards Heath 93 W

2 of our athletes have made the list of 'Man / Woman of the Match': Jamie Chapman ranked 4th in that for his Triple Jump (PB) and Harriet Connor 1st in the Women for her Discus and 3rd for her Shot...... great job both of you. Several PB's were achieved by several athletes both on the track and the field which was good to witness. The weather played ball (sunburn for a few of us!!) and Cambridge Harriers have a new facility that was very well equipped.

Many thanks must also be given to Gordon Campbell who, although ill, turned up to timekeep all day, Rupert Livesey for being the only qualified field official the club provided and Jon Crews, Alfie Crews and Neil Jennings for both competing and supporting Rupert.

The next match is SUNDAY 20th May. It is more local - Wimbledon. If half our registered age appropriate athletes could turn out for at least 1 event, we would fill practically all the A string and most of the B string (perhaps not the Steeplechase!!) and would be in with a good chance of winning a match or two. Sharon will be back to manage the ladies team and I will be in touch in early May to start putting the teamsheet for the Men together.
