Coach/Assistant Coach
RESPONSIBLE TO: Committee
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• An interest in athletics (coaching courses can be paid for by the club)
• Confidence, with good leadership skills
• Enthusiasm and motivating skills
• Ability to communicate with groups and individuals
MAIN DUTIES
1) Take responsibility for club coaching sessions or assist the lead coach at coaching sessions.
2) Ensure that all coaching/training sessions are planned in advance.
3) Offer feedback on athlete performances.
4) Attend competitions with team/athletes.
5) Report on team/athlete progress.
6) Assist with team selection.
Note: CRB clearance is required for this role (the club will organise this)

First Aiders
RESPONSIBLE TO: Home meeting organiser
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• An interest in athletics
• A current First Aid qualification, preferably First Aid for Sport or a    qualification that involves assessment of sports injuries (courses can be paid for by the club)
MAIN DUTIES
1) Attend matches hosted by the club, to be on hand to deal with injury assessment and possible treatment.
2) Ensure that the first aid kit is up to date and stocked.
3) Record  injuries in the injuries record log. 
Note: CRB clearance is required for this role (the club will organise this).

Home Meeting Organisers
RESPONSIBLE TO: Committee
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Ability to communicate by phone and email
• Energy and enthusiasm
• Some familiarity with athletics meetings at St Mary’s
MAIN DUTIES
1) Ensure that all key roles have been assigned to ensure the smooth running of a home meeting , ie those responsible for Team Management, Field Officials, Track Officials, Registration/Results/Announcing, Refreshments and First Aid. 
2) Liaise with Sport St Mary’s (SSM), either directly or through the club’s SSM Liaison Officer, to ensure that requirements are correctly submitted
3) Recruit a set-up team and groundsman.
4) Manage setting up on the day.
5) Provide a point of contact for any problems arising during the meeting.
6) Manage clearing up on the day.
7) Ensure that the meeting is reviewed with SSM.


Officials
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Hold relevant qualification (courses can be paid for by the club if needed*)
• Experience of officiating (useful but not a requirement)
• Enthusiasm and motivation
• An appropriate spokesperson for the club
MAIN DUTIES
1) Officiate as a field judge, track judge, timekeeper,  starter or marksman at the club’s athletics fixtures.
2) Promote and uphold a high level of officiating.
3) Promote good sportsmanship wherever possible.
4) Support community sport by officiating whenever possible.

* Courses in all the officiating disciplines are available on Sunday 18th October 2009 10am-4pm in Walton - ask a member of the Committee for details.

Senior Men’s Track Team Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Committee
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Enthusiastic and a good motivator
·Good organisation and communication skills
·A regular presence at the track during training sessions (eg minimum once a week)
MAIN DUTIES
·Publicise the SML fixtures to all relevant club members. 
·Select the club’s team for SML matches in liaison with the relevant club coaches.
·Ensure that team members are fully aware of their commitments to the team before and during matches.
·Be available at each match (there are 6 per season) to complete team declarations, and coordinate athletes for their events on the day, providing them with competition letters for their vests.
·Liaise with the league organisers, publicise match arrangements and organise travel to away matches.
·Coordinate taking the required officials to cover our officiating duties at each event.
·For home matches, liaise with the visiting clubs, prepare field event cards, provide all required stationery for declarations and results and distribute and report results to the league, visiting clubs, and all relevant results services (athletics weekly, powerof10, topsinathletics etc.).

NB: Robin Chandler is available to assist with these duties throughout next season in a joint team manager’s capacity if required.

Veterans Women’s Team Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Veterans Team Manager
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Organised, good commuicator and motivator, meets deadlines
• An interest in athletics competition
MAIN DUTIES
1) Recruit  the women’s team for the four Southern Counties Vets League matches each summer.
2) Encourage veteran members of the club, ie those aged 35 or more, to compete in these friendly, unpressurised meetings.



Volunteer Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Committee
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Approachable and good listener
• Confident and effective communicator
• Great organisation skills and ability to delegate duties
• Enthusiastic and a good motivator
MAIN DUTIES
1) Act as the main contact for all volunteers.
2) Get to know all club volunteers and potential volunteers by name.
3) Communicate with volunteers.
4) Coordinate the implementation of volunteer recruitment, training and support plans.
5) Recognise and nominate your volunteers for the numerous volunteer awards.
6) Ensure all volunteer paperwork is completed satisfactorily.
7) Organise social and recruitment events for volunteers.
